Star Wars Saga Timeline:
3 ABY - 4 ABY
This sequel to Star Wars: X-Wing stands the player on the opposite site of the galactic conflict - as a pilot for the Empire. The player is a cadet of the Imperial Navy and must go through hard training. The training consist of two parts. The first part is the "Imperial training simulator", where the player learns the basic controls of various starfighters. The second one is the "Combat Chamber" where the player practices space combat. If the player finish all training missions for a starfighter, they get a "training certificate" (something like a driving license).
Throughout the game, the player will fly in several starfighters: the TIE Fighter, TIE Bomber, TIE Interceptor, TIE Advanced, Assault Gunboat and two secret starfighters (the TIE Defender and the Missile Boat). The game contains 7 battles (Tours of Duty), which can be played in various orders. In the beginning of the game only 4 battles are opened. The other battles are available after completing the previous ones. Every battle has its own short cutscene which help to complete the story-line of the game.
Star Wars: TIE Fighter: Defender of the Empire was the first expansion pack for the Star Wars: TIE Fighter video game. Once installed, the Defender of the Empire added 3 new Tours of Duty.
A second expansion pack called Enemies of the Empire was planned in the same way that the original X-Wing was followed by two expansion packs. It was never released on its own, however, it was instead released as a part of later TIE Fighter game releases.
Note: The two releases of the TIE Fighter game in the "BUY MEDIA" window, includes both expansion packs and enhanced graphics compared to the original release in 1994.
